Definition:

A podcast refers to a set of audio or video files regulated through the Internet and saved on client computing equipment for playing it back later onwards.

Information:

The growing demand for mobile media devices led to the creation of podcasts.

A podcast is a portmanteau word for Apple’s iPod (one of the initial mobile media devices), as well as the term broadcast.

Consumers can use podcasts for availing subscriptions and gaining access to the same files stored on their computers. It proves to be beneficial in opposition to regular streaming or webcasts that require downloading for every playback. This option allows for enhanced accessibility to the customer.
