Cookies are stored in the visitor’s hard drive by the web browser from the webserver. At times taken for granted, still, it plays an important role in the functioning of various features like modified portals and shopping preferences.
Cookies have been controversial for privacy advocates in online marketing. The reason for their concerns being that these cookies might be used against individuals by the large multinational companies, especially when these cookies also contain offline information along with online.
They are not a universal application and a percentage of the web browsers have turned off access to cookies. They can be avoided through the web browser setting or by the cookie generator.
